Hi, I am Colin Higgins. I built this site because I love personal finance and I got tired of calculators that hide how they work.

By day I am a Senior Business Analyst at Amazon, where I spend a lot of time with data and modeling. I am not a certified financial planner and I am not a CPA, and this site never pretends otherwise. What I am is someone who genuinely enjoys pulling financial questions apart and rebuilding them from the ground up.

This project started as a hobby. I kept opening other people's retirement and FIRE calculators, wondering what assumptions were baked in, and often I could not tell. So I started writing my own, testing them against numbers I could verify by hand, and experimenting with ideas like Monte Carlo modeling to see a range of outcomes rather than a single guess.

My goal is simple. I want younger people in tech to see, early and clearly, how powerful compound interest can be when you start now. Every calculator here shows its formula, states its assumptions, and is tested against known correct values before it ships. That last part is not just an internal habit. It is a promise about how much you can trust the numbers.

Calculators are only the start. Over time I want this to grow into a fuller set of guides and resources for people who want to understand their money instead of guessing at it.
